Intestinal Problems
Food is supposed to go through our digestive system from
beginning to end without a hitch. What
we are finding though is that more and more people are having problems with the
intestinal part of their digestive system.
When working correctly, food moves from the stomach to the small
intestine where most of the nutrient absorption takes place and then to the
large intestine where the waste is stored until elimination.
Most commonly the biggest problem area is the valve between the small intestine and the large intestine, called the ileocecal (il”e-o-se’kal) valve. The function of this valve is very important. It holds material in the small intestine until digestion is complete and it keeps waste in the large intestine from flowing back into the small intestine. When this valve is irritated it will get stuck either open or closed. The result is that the small intestine absorbs toxic waste causing your entire system to become toxic.
The
usual symptoms of intestinal problems are constipation, diarrhea, abdominal
bloating, and gas pains. When your body becomes toxic, the weakest parts of
your organs and muscles become more susceptible to problems. This is why other symptoms may include
shoulder pain, sudden low back pain, sciatica, acute disc pain, pain around the
heart, sacroiliac strain, tinnitus, flu symptoms, nausea, faintness, headache,
dark circles under the eyes, and sudden thirst.
If
you have this problem there are some specific diet changes that may help the
valve function properly again. A laxative is not recommended, because people
become dependent on them for elimination.
These dietary changes are for a two-week period only, just to calm the
digestive system and restore proper function.
Recurring
problems with the ileocecal valve are often related to a sugar handling
problem, adrenal stress, nutritional deficiency or anxiety. Your chiropractic
applied kinesiologist will know how to help you with this problem by using
specific nutrients, acupuncture, adjustments, and specific nerve stimulation.
